Plans & connectivity
Simple plans, built around how you boat
Roam runs free on your boat's own WiFi or Starlink. Add a cellular plan and it keeps reporting even when that connection drops — the link that's there when the others aren't. Pick what fits how your boat stays online.
Plans from $0 · No SIM, no marina WiFi · 90-day returns · US-based support
Pick the plan that fits how you boat
Start free on your own WiFi or Starlink — full monitoring, no cost. Step up to cellular for an independent connection that keeps reporting when that internet goes down, and for more sensors as you add them.
Free
Free forever on your own WiFi or Starlink.
- Runs on your boat's WiFi or Starlink — no cellular needed
- Hub's built-in sensors: temperature, battery, GPS, sea-state & motion
- Wired inputs: bilge, high-water, shore power, supply voltage
- Anchor watch and real-time alerts, over your own internet
Free covers the hub's built-in sensors and your wired inputs — anchor watch and alerts — over your own WiFi or Starlink, at no cost. Wireless sensors and NMEA 2000 are paid features (Advanced and Premium). And if your internet drops, a cellular plan is the independent backup that keeps Roam reporting.
Base
Stays connected even when your WiFi doesn't.
Everything in Free, plus:
- Built-in cellular backup — keeps reporting when WiFi or Starlink goes down
- The connection that's there when the others aren't — at anchor, on a mooring, or after a power cut
- Real-time alerts and full history, from anywhere
Advanced
Add wireless sensors and the gear you already own.
Everything in Base, plus:
- Roam wireless sensors — Hatch/Door, Wireless Float, Wireless Shore Power (up to 16)
- Ruuvi sensors for extra temperature & humidity points
- Victron MPPT, BMV-712 & SmartShunt wirelessly
Premium
Your whole boat, in one app.
Everything in Advanced, plus:
- NMEA 2000 integration — depth, wind, navigation, engine and tank data from your boat's marine network
Annual billing is the best value — about half the cost of paying month to month. Prefer flexibility? Go month to month and switch any time. Prices in USD; you choose and set up your plan in the Roam app once your hub is installed.
How Roam service works
What the plan covers
Your plan covers the cellular connection that lets the Roam Hub report from anywhere — no SIM to buy, no separate data plan, no marina WiFi to depend on. One plan, one price, the connection handled.
Free is the full deal — over your own internet
The Free plan uses your boat's WiFi or Starlink instead of cellular, so it costs nothing and still does everything — live readings, anchor watch and alerts. The one catch is the connection itself: if your internet goes down, Roam goes quiet too. And on a boat, that's often the first thing to drop — lose shore power and the dock router dies, leave the slip and you're out of WiFi range, or Starlink loses power. A cellular plan is the independent link that keeps Roam reporting when everything else is down.
A simple ladder — each plan adds one thing
Free covers the hub and your wired sensors over your own internet. Base adds built-in cellular, so Roam keeps reporting even when that internet drops. Advanced adds wireless sensors — Roam wireless, Ruuvi and Victron. Premium adds full NMEA 2000 — depth, wind, engine and tanks. Change plans any time from the app.
Service questions
Do I need a plan to use the Roam Hub?
If your boat always has its own internet — dock WiFi, marina WiFi or Starlink — the Free plan does the full job at no cost, anchor watch and alerts included. A paid plan adds built-in cellular: an independent connection that keeps Roam reporting even when that internet drops.
What's the catch with the Free plan?
No catch — over your own WiFi or Starlink it does everything, anchor watch and alarms included. The only limit is the connection itself: if your internet goes down, so does Roam. Cellular (Base and up) is an independent link that stays up when WiFi doesn't — and on a boat, the WiFi is usually the first thing to go.
What's the difference between the paid plans?
Base is full cellular monitoring of everything built into the hub and your wired inputs. Advanced adds Roam wireless sensors plus Ruuvi and Victron support. Premium adds NMEA 2000 — your boat's depth, wind, engine and tank data.
Why is NMEA 2000 only on Premium?
NMEA 2000 brings in a lot of data from your boat's marine network and is most relevant to bigger, more instrumented boats. We put it on Premium so owners who don't need it aren't paying for it.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. Set up and change your plan from the Roam app any time as you add to your boat.
